Today I came across a new cd’ing blog by the name of 29 Diapers. They seem like a relatively new blog that is trying to promote themselves in the cd blogosphere. I figured I’d promote them here in hopes that they will get more followers!
I’d also love a chance to win in their giveaway so… good motivation to get their name out there.

Top 3 Thursday-Top 3 Favorite Names
Over at Confessions From a Working Mom, they’re asking people to share their top 3 favorite names. How could I not want to join in? When I found out I was pregnant, I dilligently pored over baby name books, hoping to find that one perfect name that would fit my impending arrival. I would toss out names, the perfectly normal to the slightly outrageous, hoping one of them would spark the interest of both myself and new baby’s daddy. Anyway, I digress. On to the list:
1) Dylan- This is the name we chose for our bundle of joy. It was a name I kept skimming over in the book and would keep coming back to. Eventually, I realized it would be the name if I were to have a boy. He’s now here and named Dylan. Couldn’t fit him more perfectly.
2) Lily- I don’t know what it is about this name. I’d never even thought of it as being a name I’d consider, but consider it I did. If I’d given birth to a girl, she would have been Lily Grace. There’s just something pretty and delicate about the name Lily.
3) Eden- There’s a woman with a little one on my BabyCenter Birth Club with a daughter named Eden. Everytime I read her name, I just smile. It’s such a classic name to me but without being “weird” or “different.” It’ll get serious consideration for my next child.
Also on the list (a close 4th) was the name Beatrix. We recently joined a story time at our local library. One of the little girls names is Beatrix. It’s just an adorable name, and I love the idea of it being shortened to Bea as a nickname.

Frugal Fridays
I’m trying a new thing where we do something “frugal” on Fridays. Being a stay at home mom, money is often limited throughout the month. I’ve really made a conscious effort to cut back on the amount of time and money spent on running here, there, and everywhere. I don’t feel like we need to participate in everything that goes on in our Mom’s Club whether because of cost or time issues.
This Friday, we spent the day with my SIL (Audrey) and nephew, Jacob.
We ended up walking to the McDonald’s down the road from her house (saving gas money). Once there, I managed to order a meal for Dylan and myself that was under $10. Afterwards, we walked to the park by their house and played for quite awhile before heading back to their house. A lot of fun for just under $10!!!

Things I Love Thursday..
I’m adding another category courtesy of a meme I found over at “The Diaper Diaries.” It’s going up a little late. So sue me..
1. Dylan- He was just so much fun yesterday. He kept getting into the weirdest things and when I’d get ready to tell him ‘no,’ he’d turn and flash me the biggest grin. Couldn’t stay mad at that smile!
2. Marshmallow eggs- We made a grocery trip to Jewel yesterday afternoon. I spotted those egg cartons that have the chocolate/marshmallow filled eggs inside. I couldn’t resist picking up a carton so I could indulge in some snacks over the next few days.
3. Nap time- We returned from our Jewel trip, and Dylan immediately went down for a nap. This gave me time to pop a quick lunch in my mouth and then lay down on the couch. The best part- Dylan slept for over 2 hours so I did too. It was amazing to lay there with the spring breeze blowing in on me through the open windows.
4. The weather- Chicago weather finally decided it was spring! The weather has been beautiful the past few days, upper 70′s. I’ve been taking advantage and pushing all of the windows open to air out the house.
5. Flip-flops- Oh how I’ve missed my flip flops throughout the long winter months. The weather wasn’t even warm, and I was pulling those bad boys out of the closet. I stared at them with longing until finally, FINALLY, it was warm enough to wear them outside. I’m going to be like those 12 dancing princesses and wear holes in them by the end of the summer.
6. Story time at the library- Dylan and I made it to the very last session of story time at the local library before they went on a month hiatus. It’s since started up, and we’ve been going on a weekly basis. What can be better than going to an activity that is already planned out for us? There’s also singing, dancing, exercise, other children to play with, and reading!! Best of all- IT’S FREE!! My kind of activity.

Recipe Book
Now that Dylan is old enough to share mealtimes with the family, I am making a big effort to try and plan out meals for a weekly basis. I want him to be able to understand the idea of families eating together while also gaining healthy eating habits.
I’m going to try to write down a weekly meal plan every Sunday and post it here. We’ll see how that goes. For now, I have a great recipe I found and made on Tuesday.
Ultimate Stuffed French Toast
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup pancake
mix - 1/4 teaspoon ground
nutmeg - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
extract - 1/2 cup sugar
- 12 eggs
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 large (1 1/2 to 2-pound) loaf unsliced French bread

- About 2 cups crushed crunchy corn cereal
(recommended: Corn Flakes) - About 12 tablespoons butter
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix with enough water to make a thin batter. Add nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar and eggs. Whisk together until smooth, about 3 minutes.
In a medium bowl, mix together walnuts, brown sugar, and banana slices.
Slice the ends off the French bread. Starting at 1 end, measure about a half inch down the loaf and slice the bread 3/4 of the way through. Measure about another half inch, and slice cleanly through the bread. You should have a 1-inch slice of bread with a cut down the middle. Repeat this process until the bread is all sliced up.
Take a piece of the cut French bread and stuff a few tablespoons of the banana mixture into the slit in the middle. Add a good amount, but do not overstuff so that the mixture won’t stay in the center. Repeat until all the slices are stuffed.
Preheat a skillet or flat-top grill over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, coat it with 2 tablespoons of butter.
Pour the crushed-up cornflakes onto a plate. Take a slice of stuffed bread and dip it into the egg mixture, coating both sides liberally. Then press the bread into the cornflakes and flip it to coat both sides. Place the bread on the grill or skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Flip the toast over and cook the other side. Repeat the coating and cooking process for each slice of bread, and add more butter to the grill or skillet as necessary, about 2 tablespoons of butter per slice.
I ended up chopping two bananas for the recipe. I’d recommend using at least 3, depending on how much you enjoy banana.
